Hady BA (Mouhamadou El Hady BA)

Hady BA is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Cheikh Anta Diop University and the Director of the Laboratory for the Study of Educational Systems.

Trained in Dakar as a philosopher, Mr. Ba holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from The Jean Nicod Institute in Paris. Before coming back to Dakar, Hady Ba worked on the development of Natural Language Processing tools that use open-source resources like the web to detect and anticipate security threats. Dr. Ba teaches logic, epistemology, philosophy of science, and cognitive science and has written papers in political philosophy and in cognitive science. He is currently writing a book about the specifics of human nature drawing heavily on current research on animal cognition. He is also working on a project about Southern Epistemology.

He has been a visiting research fellow at the University of Turin, a visiting lecturer at The École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, and an International Supporting Faculty at the School of Collective Intelligence of Mohamed 6 Polytechnic University in Morocco.

He is currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Philosophy Department of the University of Connecticut at Storrs.

A founding member and first scientific director of the Think Tank Ipode, he has written in this capacity about terrorism in the Sahel and policy problems affecting west Africa.
